Kathmandu: Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda' has once again garnered a vote of confidence in the House of Representatives (HoR) for the third time, reaffirming his leadership position.

During today's session of the HoR, Prime Minister Dahal presented a proposal seeking a vote of confidence, which received 157 votes in favor and 110 votes against it during the voice vote decision. Out of the 275-member House of Representatives, 268 lawmakers were present, with seven absentees. With 138 votes required for a vote of confidence, Prime Minister Dahal surpassed the threshold.

Speaker Devraj Ghimire announced the results, confirming that the majority of lawmakers present supported the Prime Minister's proposal, thus granting him the vote of confidence.

Lawmakers from the ruling alliance parties, including CPN (UML), CPN (Maoist Centre), Rastriya Swatantra Party, Janata Samajbadi Party Nepal, CPN (Unified Socialist), and Nagarik Unmukti Party, extended their support to Prime Minister Dahal.

Prime Minister Dahal sought the vote of confidence following the change in the governing coalition on March 4, leading to the withdrawal of support from Nepali Congress, which had been part of the previous alliance.

Having been elected as Prime Minister on December 25, 2022, Prime Minister Dahal previously secured votes of confidence twice. On January 10, 2023, he obtained overwhelming support from various parties in the HoR, including CPN (UML), CPN (Maoist Centre), Rastriya Swatantra Party, Rastriya Prajatantra Party, Janata Samajbadi Party Nepal, Janamat Party, and Nagarik Unmukti Party.

During his second vote of confidence on March 20, 2023, Prime Minister Dahal garnered 172 votes after changes in the ruling coalition necessitated another confidence vote. Despite opposition, he maintained a strong majority, demonstrating continued support from various political factions.
